When the new Canadian federal government took power in late 2015, they promised to bring at least 25,000 Syrian refugees into the country. They achieved this by the beginning of 2016, so we built an interactive map that visualized the over 250 communities across Canada that welcomed them. For a more nuanced look at the numbers, we also provided a breakdown of refugees per 10,000 residents, and highlighted government assisted and privately sponsored Syrians. The piece was shortlisted for a Canadian Online Publishing Award.
